Reef parameters have been updated. Alkalinity and Calcium have risen quite a bit since the Calcium Reactor was cleaned out and refilled. Phosphates are up again, which is so hard for me to believe. I'll test it again tonight to see if the first reading was false. There are 11 fish in the tank now, and I feed less than before. The Phosban Reactors were refilled about 10 days ago, and PO4 should really have dropped completely. Strange.

I thought I'd show you guys my new auto top off system. It isn't a huge change, but it is nicer than before.

First I went to Home Depot and bought more wrapping paper rubbermaid containers. At Walmart these cost $9.99, but at Home Depot they were under $5 each. I bought three, but after placing them in the fish room, they still took up a little too much space. So I used two, and the third one is holding wrapping paper at the moment.

Yesterday was the DFWMAS Frag Swap, and 160 people showed up with coolers and coolers of coral frags and used equipment for sale. At last count, over 600 frags were brought and traded/sold to excited hobbyists.

I ended up with a bunch of new pieces for my tank, which is perfect because I was looking for new SPS to restock the tank. Many of the beauties I had earlier this year died during the PO4 (Phosphate) issues I battled for several months.

So here are the new additions:

I want to thank everyone that took the time to call, email or PM their thoughts, suggestions, and personal (similar) experiences. It really was tough to accept my mistake, since it cost the lives of the animals I choose to care for on a daily basis. Day by day, I felt a little better and was able to accept the situation and focus on what I still have. The losses were terrible, because many were with me for many years and several are very difficult to replace due to their specific needs.

I made a huge mistake last night. And it cost the lives of many of my beautiful fish.  I turned off the pumps to feed the suncorals, and forgot to turn them back on. The pumps were off from about 3am until 11am, and when I woke up and saw the tank I quickly turned on the pumps.

Within minutes I saw the carnage. Dead fish littered about the substrate, others gasping. I can't believe I made such a horrible mistake. It literally brings tears to my eyes even typing this out.
