Watching my fish in secret...

I updated several webpages on my site with easy shortcuts at the top, to help people navigate my site more easily. :)

That's it, the Rose BTA is no more. I tried everything in my power to keep it alive, but last night it heaved its final breath, and all day today it lay like a sad deflated puddle in the protective container it's been in for the past 10 days. I removed it before the tank was polluted.

Doomed

My beautiful Rose BTA has been showing some growth over the past month and a half that I've had it. Isolating it from the Gold Stripe Maroon Clowns, my hope was that it would grow larger (it was quite young and small). However, my Skunk Cleaner shrimp has been stealing its food right out of its mouth/belly when I would walk away!!!

New corals, new invert

I'm trying to increase the pH in the 55g reeftank, so today I hooked up an airpump in the garage that pushes in "fresh" air into the tank. The outlet of the tubing blows into the intake of the protein skimmer, but I'm not sure if that will make much of a difference. If this doesn't work, I'll have to patch a pencil-sized hole in the wall. ;)

Got a new coral today :)

The Rose BTA looks good sometimes and at other times it looks near death. I updated that webpage today. If you've wondered how badly they can look, this is the page to see. :( Two 10g water changes were done within 24 hours to help clean up the water.

I did water tests today, and my Alkalinity is low on both tanks, due to the lack of B-Ionic. Additives were dosed to both tanks, so the numbers are actually much better (pH and Alk).

Manually helping each zoanthid polyp heal up

I'm really enjoying the fact that Peaches is always out when I glance at the 55g reef. Her bright orange color is striking, and the hot pink dorsal fin pops up often enough to see its vividness. Tucker, my Hippo Tang, is not quite a long as the Anthias, but seems to want to control her or at least keep her away from the food. Peaches holds her own quite nicely, at least for now.

March pictures

I took a few pictures yesterday, and hope you enjoy them.

This is my 29g, after the bubble tip anemone split. The image looks a little strange, but it gives you a peek none-the-less in the above picture.

This is my 55g. First the left shot, the center, and the right side.
