Marc Levenson - Biography

Marc “melev” Levenson has been an active reef aquarist since 1997, documenting his own systems on melevsreef.com to help hobbyists master sound husbandry practices. A well-known online personality, he reaches more than 68,000 subscribers through his YouTube channel (@melevsreef), where he shares practical advice, product insights, and a weekly two-hour Saturday livestream open to anyone with a question. His website’s extensive library of articles, blogs, and Critter ID resources covers everything from pest management and feeding techniques to acrylic work, reef photography, and water chemistry. His online store features a range of products—including RODI systems, custom sumps, and several innovative items he designed to simplify reefkeeping.

Since 2023, Marc has served as Executive Editor of CORAL Magazine and was honored with the MASNA Award in 2024. He is a nationally recognized speaker who encourages supporting local club events, shopping at local fish stores, and engaging with fellow hobbyists across social media. Marc is also the current president of the Dallas–Fort Worth Marine Aquarium Society (DFWMAS). Beyond the aquarium room, he is an avid scuba diver who enjoys exploring natural reefs. His current systems include a 400-gallon reef, a 60-gallon anemone cube, and a 27-gallon nano stocked with captive-bred fish and aquacultured corals.
