The zoanthids are posing for me
On Saturday, I picked up some Cheatomorpha from a local reefer and added half to each refugium. I may pulled out all the caulerpa in there and let this be my way of removing nutrients instead. Cheatomorpha looks like green thread, and grows in a tangled bunch that reminds me of loosely of steel wool.
The baby blue Zoanthids opened up and I got a nice picture of them today. They are green in the very center, and very tender & small. Each polyp is probably 3/16" wide in diameter.
The Orange Bytor Zoanthids finally opened up nicely today. They've been closed up for almost two weeks and I was really worried they were doomed.
My favorite purple & pink Ricordia was begging for a photo op, so it is included in today's log.
Today the Red Goniopora was fully opened up in the 55g reef, and I had to take a picture.
I purchased it from a local reefer that was taking down his tank over a week ago, and each day it has looked a little better than before. Even late at night many of the polyps are extended for feeding, but not to this degree.
I dd a 10g water change each of both reef tanks last night, and was surprised to see the BTA unhappy again today. It is a very moody creature. You would think after 19 months I'd be used to it by now. Next time it poses in a pretty fashion I'll update this webpage again, which is long overdue!
Here's one more picture of the new baby blue zoanthids and the 'mean greens' in my 55g.
