A close call...
When I got back in town, I found the Golden Eel in my son's tank on the wrong side of the tank's partitian, over by the clownfish where I don't want it. I moved the partitian over, so it would swim back to its side and all was well.
Ding Dong.
Finally. The UPS delivery I've been waiting for for weeks. I ordered a Kill-O-watt device on Dec 14, and never heard from the company again. I emailed them thrice, and still no reply. I got a statement on Saturday showing they got my money though.
I decided to test the water for the last day of the year.
At the same time, I did some dosings. So let me start off with that. I've had cyano slowly spreading in my tank for the past couple of weeks, and I finally decided to use my final batch of ChemiClean in my tank. As I've mentioned before, I believe it drops the oxygen level in the water rapidly. Before adding:
Temp 81.6F
Salinity 1.025 sg
pH 8.15
ORP 456
Out of curiosity, I thought I would do a little research on the thread that documents the adventures of the 280g reef on ReefCentral.com
A few days ago, I heard a loud "pop!" but couldn't find the source. Since then, some random corals in my tank have not been doing well, and I couldn't figure out why since others were perfectly fine. I found the source.
This is a nice page I bookmarked about a year ago.
Calculate the cost to run an aquarium.
Just fill out the form, and it will give you an idea of what it costs to run all this equipment.
I made a small cube a while back that was supposed to be a refugium. Well, it was too small for the application, so I decided to use it for quarantine from time to time. Usually it is empty, but lately there is some LR and a few ricordia and other bits of life doing their thing.
I decided to use one of the refugium lightbulbs I recommend over this tank, but didn't have a nice way to keep it suspended. Today, I decided to make a light bracket with some acrylic. :D
Good news!
I was checking the website's statistics page, and an alert came up stating that I had too many files eating up server space and that I needed to delete some. Since I knew that wasn't true, I contacted customer support. The tech support guy checked everything out, and updated my account to match the current Business Pro package offered by ipowerweb.com.
Here's something new that I'd not seen before in my tank. I think this coral is possibly wanting to spread to a new spot in the tank. If I'm correct, this could be the indication of Polyp Bailout. Look at the top of this favia.
