Last weekend, the East Texas Reefers (Tyler) asked me to come out and speak to their club members about sumps. It was a lot of fun talking to a small excited group of hobbyists. About 25-30 hobbyists gathered that day, and shared in conversation and delicious treats. PLUS it was almost an open bar event. :D
Computer is restored, and almost like new again. The tank looks good, although my blue milli did have a branch completely RTN for no reason at all. I dipped it in two different solutions to reveal any possible pests, but found none. Odd and annoying, but for now the rest of the coral is happy. Here's what it looked like in November. It is 7" across, wider than what would fit in a 1g rubbermaid pitcher.
I've had it with this computer. I'm going to format Drive C and reinstall. If you can't reach me for some reason, give me 48 hours to get everything back to normal. Hopefully this will be uneventful and all will finally run correctly.
Never install that stupid DSL software from SBC/Yahoo. Grrrr.
Today I made some calls to see if I could locate a hobbyist-friendly supplier of Weld-On #4, since Tapplastics.com has decided to no longer carry the product. I found a vendor in Indiana that is willing to ship anywhere in the U.S. and have added that information to the Tools page on my site.
At long last, I finally updated the ID page with a bunch of new goodies. Over 30 new additions were made tonight.
Woohoo - Blogger fixed their software and I can make entries more easily again. Yes!
Today I tested the water in the tank. It had been weeks and I didn't really want to find out any bad news, if you know what I mean. To my surprise, everything is great!
Salinity - 1.027sg
Temp - 80.8F
pH - 8.21
Alk - 9.6 dKH
Cal - 450
Mg - 1360
Nitrate - 5ppm
Phosphate - .03ppm
ORP - 297 (but I think that is a false reading)
Yesterday I took over 40 new images from my tank. I posted these in my thread on Reef Central. You do have to be signed in to view them, but that is free.
I bought a new coral today. Since my camera was at home, I thought I'd try to take the picture with my Razor phone. ;)
It is actually a bubble coral, but only about 2" across. It looks more like a Ricordia. When I saw it, I thought the colors and the tiny bubbles were rather unique, and wondered it it was a cross between a Fox Coral and a Bubble.
I received my new impellars for the Sedra 5000 pumps on my CS12-2 skimmer.
