MACNA XVI - Boston

A few speakers

I only attended certain sessions, as many were running at the same time. Here are a few I enjoyed.

Eric Borneman

Lighting was poor for photography, plus I was too far away to use a flash.

So I cranked up the ISO, zoomed in and steadied my camera on a chair back. ;)

Daniel Knop

Daniel's accent was a little tough to understand occasionally.

Coral propagation techniques Daniel was working on.

This tank in Switzerland is packed with suncorals!!!!!!!! All grown from one colony.

Randy Holmes Farley

Our resident chemist from Reef Central.

Richard Pyle

Richard Pyle dives deeply to discover new species.

He did a slide presentation at the New England Aquarium.

Richard appeared in the IMAX film Coral Reef Adventure.

I apologize for the blurry images, but these were shot in total darkness, freehand. :(

Here he explains about differing diving depths, where man tends to seek life and the zone often skipped.

This cool fish was referred to the Dr Suess fish, but is named after Richard himself as he discovered it.

This pretty Dwarf Angel might appear in our tanks one day.

Julian Sprung and Charles Delbeek

Really not much of a picture, but they were talking. Julian is facing Charles, in the red jacket. They co-authored two books together:
The Reef Aquarium: A Comprehensive Guide to the Identification and Care of Tropical Marine Invertebrates (Volumes 1 & 2)
