Save money and purchase a full case of carbon block filters.  25 filters per case.

Activated Carbon Block Filter - 5 micron - 2.75" x 10"

PCTO/2 carbon block filters are used worldwide as a cost effective filter for removing free chlorine. Every carbon block is made from coconut shell, palm or nut shell, and coal based carbons. Because of the unique pore structure of this carbon block, it is well suited for chemical adsorption. This includes VOC’s, while reducing chlorine and chemicals that result in taste and color issues. The extrusion process allows the production of a carbon block with more carbon and a low pressure drop. The service life of this carbon blocks is greatly extended by an outer layer of 5 mic polypropyleneno-woven pre filtration media. This creates what many say is a sweeter, better tasting water.

Membrane Upgrade kit

Membrane Upgrade kit
$117.00

Save water by a more efficient method.  Add a second membrane to the waste line of the first membrane to decrease waste water and produce more pure water.  This kit includes:

  • Membrane housing with fittings
  • 100 (or 150gpd) membrane
  • Additional blue tubing
  • 6' black waste line tubing
  • Y-connection to combine both pure water lines before the DI stage
  • Two C-clamps to affix housings to each other

Caveat: By adding a second membrane, pressure will drop accordingly.  If you discover your water pressure isn't going to be enough for this upgrade, you may want to add a booster pump to bring the feed to 60 PSI for better results.  Booster pump kit
Add a Pressure Gauge too.

150 GPD Membrane

150 GPD Membrane
150 GPD Membrane
$85.00

This CSM membrane and matching flow restrictor produces approximately 6.25-gallons per hour when installed in the 150gpd system sold on my site.  This membrane is a low pressure membrane that must be used with the booster pump pushing water at 75 PSI for expected results.  93% rejection rate.

The RE2012-LP Membrane comes with matching flow restrictor

Full set of filters (for RO/DI system)

$55.00

The full set of filters includes four items:

This set of filters fits the 100gpd and 150gpd RO/DI systems offered by Melev's Reef, and many other popular brands. These are industry-standard sized filters.

Prefilter Set (for RO system)

Prefilter set
$25.00

The Prefilter Set are the filters that run prior to the membrane of a RO or RO/DI system. It includes one 5 micron 10" Sediment and two 5 micron 10" Carbon Block filters. These should be replaced every six months like clockwork.

Water flows first through the sediment filter, then into the two carbon blocks, and then continues into the membrane of the RO system.

Color Changing DI cartridge

Color-changing DI resin cartridge
Note arrow pointing up for proper install orientation.
$30.00

Color Changing DI cartridge. Just unscrew the housing, take out the old one and insert the new one.

  • Ready to use. No rinsing required. Comes filled with color changing DI resin.
  • Recommended weekly use to avoid stagnation-related issues.
  • Consumed resin will change color from black to orange as a visual guide. It is best to test product water with a TDS Meter.
  • This is a refillable housing; I only sell prefilled cartridges.

Formula to estimate when the DI resin needs replacing

Each DI Cartridge has a 260 grain capacity:
Step 1) RO water TDS divided by 17.1 = Grain Usage
Step 2) 260 grains divided by Grain Usage = Estimated RO/DI Gallons until resin is depleted

Sediment Filter - 5 micron

5 micron sediment filter
$5.00

This is the first filter that traps sediment and sand before any of the other filters. Be sure to install this in the Stage 1 position of your RO system, which is the first housing to fill up from your water source.

Sediment Filter - 5 micron - 10" x 2.5"

  • 5 uM, sediment spun filter from 100% melt blown polypropylene
  • Sediment, sand, sitl, dirt, and dust particle removal
  • Material conforms to FDA grade NSF42 certified filter component
  • Operational Pressure / Temp: 120 PSI / 140°F (60°C)
  • Suggested usage life: 3 months depending on local tap water
