When a person asks "what is an easy SPS coral to start with?" the answer is often Montipora digitata. It comes in a variety of colors, such as the lovely lavender piece above. The new growth at the tips is purple, and in good current you'll see polyps extended from the coral to give it a slightly fuzzy appearance. M. digitata is very fragile / brittle, so care should be given when handling it to avoid breakage. Once a piece is snapped off, it can be secured to another rock with Super Glue Gel and will continue to grow relatively quickly. In the foreground, you can see another color, some orange M. digitata growing nearby.
