When looking for a friendly wrasse to add to your aquarium, the Melanurus Wrasse does more than add a splash of color. It seems to interact politely with many other fish, and is out in the open in full view most of the day. Nicknamed the Christmas Wrasse, the vivid colors quickly capture your eye as it moves in and out of the rockwork foraging for prey. It seems to eat a variety of foods without complaint, but is happy to devour small hitchhiker brittle starfish that venture out into the open. I keep my rockwork low in the tank, so jumping hasn't been a problem for my wrasses. You may opt to put a screen over your tank to keep fish from leaping to their deaths, especially if your rockwork rises to the top of the aquarium.
